These are the most beautiful photos of Mauer

Winners of the second Mauermer photo competition have been announced - but they're not the only ones who can be happy - exhibition in practices

Mauer. (ugl) For three months, citizens of Mauer were able to submit one picture each on the subject of "Favourite places and beautiful motifs in Mauer". Initiator Adela Schlehuber had come up with something new for the second Mauer photo competition. She wanted to strengthen cohesion in the community by focussing on regionality. The surgeries in Mauer were asked whether they wanted to visually enhance their walls with some of the pictures for six months. The award ceremony has now taken place.

Three interested parties were quickly found for this project, each of whom also provided a juror: Giselbert Hinz for the Polarity practice, Johannes Brox for the Physiomed Mauer practice and Kai Lüder Glinz for the Mauer dental practice. In addition, Adela Schlehuber and Katja Ehret supported the endeavour as jurors and imaginative decorators. After the closing date for entries, the five jurors jointly decided on the three best pictures, which were awarded prize money, as well as the nine pictures to be printed out and hung in the practices.

Originality, image resolution and overall impact played a major role in the selection of the photos from the 28 entries. Anyone interested could now admire the submitted photos in the Kulturscheune and witness the award ceremony. The evening was hosted by the mayor of Mauerm, John Ehret. He emphasised that the municipality was very happy to support this project, as it was seen as a positive enrichment. First place, which was endowed with 120 euros, went to Thomas Nagel with his work "Panorama in der goldenen Stunde", which shows the centre of Mauer from above. Second place went to Carl Arnold. He received 80 euros in prize money for his picture "Night Lights Mauer", which shows the area around the roundabout in the town centre at night. Birgit Klubertanz was delighted to take third place. Her picture "Morgendlicher Winterzauber Mauer", which was honoured with 40 euros, was taken at the "new elevated tank".

Initiator Adela Schlehuber explained that the first competition in 2021 had already been wonderful. It was wonderful to experience the joy of capturing snapshots. "For me, photography - especially in nature - was and is like meditation," emphasised Schlehuber. She can take carefree pleasure in an eager bumblebee, a shy deer or an unforgettable sunset. If she then also manages to capture this moment with her camera, it is pure happiness. The wish that everyone can experience this happiness has now also driven her to launch the second Mauermer photo competition.

Donors and the community were quickly convinced after the success of 2021. A major goal was to ensure that the pictures were recognised for longer and that more people would benefit from them. This led to the idea of asking the practices in Mauer whether they would like to enhance their rooms with regional images.

"In a harmonious atmosphere, we were able to select the right photos with ease," reported Schlehuber. Although she realised that tastes differed widely. The photos can be viewed on the municipality's website. The initiator has a third photo competition in mind.
